AI finds where ready-mix margin leaks

Plus half-time roof estimates and AI submittal checks.

Hey there,

Three jobsite tools that can save time this week. Short read. Then back to the truck.

1) AI finds where ready-mix margin leaks

Command Alkon bought a company called C60. C60 builds AI and analytics tools for ready-mix plants.

The tool pulls data from dispatch, batch, and quality control (the checks that make sure the mix is right). Then it shows where money is lost — cost to serve a job, pricing, mix design, and delivery performance.

Command Alkon CEO Martin Willoughby said producers know margin leaks between the plant and the jobsite, but they cannot see where. C60 will be rebranded Analyst C60 under Command Intelligence.

Try this: Next pour, write down wait time at the jobsite and any leftover concrete. Ask the plant if they track the same numbers. Shared facts beat guessing where the money went.

2) Roof estimates in about half the time

GPStimate is an AI tool for commercial roof bids. It measures roofs from aerial photos and pulls manufacturer papers into the estimate. Estimators still check and approve every number — the AI does not replace them.

In testing on about 100 projects, estimates that usually took more than 2 hours were done in about half the time. The company also linked with Dataforma, a roofing business software, so lead to signed job can stay in one place.

Try this: Time your next roof or trade bid from start to send. Write the hours. That number shows if a takeoff helper is worth a look.

3) AI first-pass on trade submittals

At DBIA 2026 Day 1 in Cleveland (Nov 5), demos showed AI helping review trade submittals (the product papers you send before install).

In one plumbing insulation demo, the AI flagged missing insulation thickness by pipe size, local code confirmation, and the manufacturer certificate. An electrical demo flagged OA grille clearance (outside air grille space) and incomplete duct insulation data.

The point: AI as a first pass. The reviewer still decides.

Try this: Before you send your next submittal, make a short checklist: thickness, code note, manufacturer cert, clearances. Check those four before you hit send.

Know a crew leader who would like this? Send it to them.
